Due to the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a new Level 3 Travel Warning for South Korea. The travel restrictions issued by the U.S. Department of State for China remain at Level 4: Do Not Travel to China. Other Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution warnings have been issued for Japan, Iran and Italy.
THINGS YOU CAN DO
If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), see your health care provider immediately. Call ahead to advise the doctor’s office of recent travel. If you have been diagnosed or have symptoms consistent with coronavirus, wear a facemask when you are in the same room with other people and when you visit your healthcare provider.
Actions that help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses include:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
