Coronavirus First Community Person to Person Transmission

California is the first state reporting the first known community person to person transmission of the coronavirus within the United States.

Dr. David Lubarsky of UC Davis Medical Center in California reported a patient tested positive for the coronavirus on February 19.

The patient had no known travel history to countries experiencing infection or exposure to an infected person.

There have been at least two other person to person transmissions in the United States, however, these cases were spouse to spouse or other close contact with known infected individual.

This is not the first coronavirus (COVID-19) patient treated at UC Davis Medical Center, and a memo posted on the UC Davis Health Website states that they believe there was minimal exposure to health care workers or other patients.
