The Dallas nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, the first known Ebola patient in the United States, is doing better. Nina Pham contracted Ebola while working at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in the intensive care unit. Euthanize Animals Exposed to the Ebola Virus?

Should Animals Exposed to the Ebola Virus be Immediately Euthanized? A woman in Madrid, Spain was the first to be infected with the Ebola virus in the region. Maria Teresa Romero Ramos, who is 40 years old, was infected while acting as a caregiver for infected priests who had contracted the virus while working in West Africa. Although Romero-Ramos wore protective clothing while treating the priests, and is only known to have entered the room where they were being treated a couple of times, she still someone contracted the Ebola virus. She told reporters for El Pais, a Spanish newspaper, that she might have contracted the virus while removing her protective gear. No further details are known at this time about how she may have become infected. Sadly, her dog, Excalibur was also exposed to the Ebola virus. Ebola can be transmitted to, and carried by, animals. Due to the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a new Level 3 Travel Warning for South Korea . Do mosquitoes carry the H1N1 Swine flu virus? Most researchers say that at this point it is not likely. The word pandemic strikes fear into the hearts of most of us. We hear this word an immediately think of a deadly virus that spreads like wildfire, killing off populations of people mercilessly. Unfortunately, this analogy is true to some degree. A pandemic is basically an alteration in an existing virus that has caused a mutation or subtype of the viral species to occur. This can lead to epidemics because they are spread easily among the populace.
